John Marshall
John is a group management evangelist who has held leadership roles in many community organizations. As an active volunteer in the American Cancer Society, his local church, the Boy Scouts of America, public and private schools, and various youth sporting organizations, John has managed both large and small groups, developed and staffed committees, chaired capital campaigns, and orchestrated events that have contributed to the development and growth of his community.

Driven by a passion to contribute and a personal understanding of the difficulties that face even the most committed groups, John employed his communications expertise and entrepreneurial spirit to found GroupGel, a company dedicated to helping groups connect personally, communicate effectively, and coordinate events with ease.

John’s began his technical career with both a BSEE and a MSEE from Purdue University. He held many executive level positions in the engineering and research and development departments of noteworthy telecommunications companies before founding Intelis in 1997. Intelis has established itself as a leading provider of enhanced telephony and Internet products providing solutions to RBOCs, independent telephone companies, and long distance carriers. Technology and expertise inherent in Intelis have provided a foundation for the intelligent and stable development of GroupGel.

John and his wife, Lynn, have two sons, one who entered Auburn University in the fall of 2009 and another who is sophomore at King’s Ridge Christian School where he is a star athlete on the football field, soccer field and basketball court.

Karl Mumbower
Karl Mumbower is GroupGel’s Chief Operating Officer. He is an advocate for making sure the sales and subscription processes are effective and reproducible. In addition to ensuring the website is easy to navigate, he is makes sure the subscribers have a site that is easy to use while at the same time solving group needs for their management.

Karl’s community involvement is largely focused on horse rescue. He is heavily involved in a not-for-profit horse rescue in Georgia and has personally adopted four horses. He and his family own a horse farm in north Georgia and plan to continue to grow their horse rescue program and facilities.

Karl has been leading development groups in healthcare, manufacturing, and telecommunications for over 20 years. Karl has also headed his own company and developed proprietary software for the analysis of healthcare facilities to remain competitive.

Colin MacLean
Colin MacLean serves as GroupGel’s Chief Technical Officer. Colin is responsible for all GroupGel platform and website development. He also leads the design and operation of the GroupGel platform and network infrastructure in addition to GroupGel’s Customer Support and Quality Assurance programs.

As a husband and devoted father of three pre-school children Colin is heavily involved in both outdoor and educational activities with his children. Colin is also a successful racing driver who volunteers his time as a high performance driving instructor and racing coach for local car clubs and organizations.

Colin has over fifteen years experience in engineering management building secure, high performance, carrier-grade payment systems and telecommunications platforms. Prior to joining GroupGel, Colin managed System Software Development and ran the Technical Support and Quality Assurance departments for Intelis. Colin holds an M.A. in Economics and an M.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Dundee in Scotland.
